Inner Strength was invited to write a chapter about our program’s approach to mindfulness and compassion in education for a 2 volume set that promises to make an important contribution to the field of contemplative education.
Dr. Robert Roeser, the Director of Research at Emory University’s Compassion Center and esteemed educator Dr. Kimberly Schonert-Reichl from the University of Illinois, Chicago have been compiling a major new academic resource The Handbook of Mindfulness, Compassion and Education, to be published by Springer Publishing Co late 2026.
This two-volume guide looks at how mindfulness and compassion are being used in schools and universities today. Volume 1 will include chapters exploring the potential for mindfulness and compassion to transform education; how change is measured; what the impact has been on teachers and learners. Volume 2 will include ten highlighted organizations offering different ways to bring these tools into the classroom. We are honored to be included and grateful to Drs. Schonert-Reichl and Roeser for all their work, scholarship, and dedication.
