As Inner Strength Education celebrates its 10th anniversary, board members like Leashia Lewis are playing a pivotal role in steering our ambitious $1,000,000 fundraising campaign.
Leashia Lewis, a dedicated board member of Inner Strength, brings a wealth of experience and passion to her role in supporting Philadelphia’s youth. As the director of Villanova University’s UNITAS, the Athletics Department’s DE&I initiative, Leashia’s commitment to helping underrepresented students succeed underpins her work at Inner Strength.
With a background in school counseling and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by students in low-income communities, Leashia recognizes the transformative power of Inner Strength’s programs.
“Inner Strength Education has broadened my perspective on the type of change that can be made in young students’ lives,” she shares. “Our research-based approach leads to consequential changes, especially for youth coming from challenging home environments.”
Leashia highlights how Inner Strength is developing the next generation of leaders, equipping them with the tools to solve problems within their communities. This approach aligns perfectly with her passion for Philadelphia and her desire to see positive change in the education system.
Leashia also notes the timeliness of Inner Strength’s work, particularly in addressing mental health. “Generation Z is more open to discussing their mental health, and Inner Strength has the opportunity to meet them where they are,” she says.
Board Members like Leashia bring their dedication, insights, and passion. Each one plays such an invaluable role as we expand our reach and deepen our impact on the next generation.
