Happy December! It’s hard to believe that we’re almost at the end of another year, but here we are! We wanted to take a moment to share some amazing news with everyone. We’ve been hard at work this year, providing teens with mindfulness tools, stress reduction activities, systems thinking, and perspective changes. We’ve been accomplishing that with the help of partnerships with some amazing schools. One of those schools is George Washington Carver High School of Engineering and Science, which is right by Temple University’s Main Campus.
ISF has been providing Carver High School 10th graders with the 12-week Inner Strength Teen Program, but recently, we were also able to take all of their 9th grade students on retreat! Participants were able to enjoy the bucolic setting of Pendle Hill Retreat Center and connect with themselves and their peers, all while learning about mindfulness tools. Our work with Carver High School attracted the interest of the Philadelphia Inquirer, and Kristen Graham, the urban education writer. Ms. Graham sat in on one of the retreat days and visited an ISF class on-site at Carver a few weeks later. As a result of that, we were featured in a wonderful Inquirer article. We are thrilled that our efforts are being recognized and we hope that we can continue to reach as many teens as possible. The link to the full article is below. A big thank you to Ms. Graham and the Philadelphia Inquirer!
