I had the privilege of being in Dr. Muhsinah Morris’ very first training for educators interested in creating lessons for a personalized AI avatar tutor with VictoryXR. What fun! Dr. Morris is ahhhmaaaazing. Really. She is brilliant, passionate, inspired, and dedicated to closing the education equity gap by making the latest technology immediately available. She created the world’s first Digital Twin University for Morehouse College during the pandemic, offering a fully operational semester via immersive and interactive technology. (If you don’t exactly know what those descriptors mean, trust me, I didn’t either a few months ago! )
Dr. Morris is also incredibly fun and we had a blast!
Not only did I get to create my first lesson for our students, “What Is Mindfulness?” my avatar was able to answer real questions, live, sourcing credible information.
Why is this useful?
I know, you might be wondering (resisting) like I did. Person-to-person, human-to-human interaction, mentorship, love and care is what these young people need!
Yes. . . . And. . . . . (Says the greatest improv performers….)
I intend to experiment with this by translating into the top 4 languages in one of schools where a large proportion of the student body speak a different language as their mother tongue. In a student body of roughly 800, the kids speak 27 different languages, hailing from 20 different countries.
My little AI Avatar can answer their personal questions about mindfulness in their own language!!!!!
Now that is a game changer!
So stay tuned for more fun experiments at the edge of compassion, awareness, purpose, stability, love, empathy, wisdom, technology and school.
Oh, I forgot to say that Dr. Morris is also a believer in Mindful Moments, and she invited me to lead the mindful openers for her second cohort. We went deep and connected in the stillness and reflection. I have a feeling some more great innovation and cross pollination is yet to come.
